Institut d'études politiques de Paris

Sciences Po is one of the most popular IEP destinations. Since 2015, exchange students from UGM are assigned to the Reims Campus. It is advisable that students interested in Sciences Po are able to converse, read, and write in French. Sciences Po is currently more suited for those concentrating in Global Politics and Security. Nevertheless, there are few courses available to International Political Economy students and Development students.

Courses Selection
There are different types of courses offered in Sciences Po, and each is worth a specific number of ECTS:
  • Lecture course: 5 or 10 ECTS
  • Seminar course: 5 ECTS
  • Elective course: 5 ECTS
Students who wish to participate in the SEP at Sciences Po and obtain the Certificate of Studies in Social and Humanities must complete a maximum of 30 ECTS credits and pass at least 20 ECTS credits out of the attempted 30 credits. It is essential that the selected courses include at least one 10 ECTS course (lecture) and one 5 ECTS course (seminar, elective, language, or artistic workshop).
Sciences Po also offers specialized certificate programs in European Affairs, International Affairs & Strategy, and Business & Economics. Each certificate can be completed in one semester, and students can earn up to two certificates in an academic year. To receive a certificate, students must successfully complete two core common seminars (one in the certificate and one in French civilization), two courses in their chosen track, one language course, one elective of their choice, and the orientation week. Students need to earn 30 ECTS credits by the end of the semester. If studying for a full year (two semesters), students can obtain two certificates without needing to repeat the orientation week.
