Welcoming IR UGM Freshmen Academic Year 2024/2025

The Department of International Relations at Gadjah Mada University (DIHI UGM) welcomed freshmen undergraduate students on Thursday (1/8) at 08:30 AM in the Auditorium Fisipol. This year, the S-1 Program admitted 135 new students, consisting of 85 students in the Regular Program and 50 students in the International Undergraduate Program

DIHI Talks: Green Belt and Road Initiative and Energy Transition in Indonesia

"President Xi shows ambition to make China the environmental leader, not only domestically but also globally," said Dr. Yixian Sun during a discussion at DIHI Talks on Friday, December 13th of this year. Yixian Sun is an associate professor of International Development at the University of Bath, United Kingdom. He mentioned several attempts made by China to shift the Belt and Road Initiative into a Green Belt and Road Initiative. Yixian added, "What has driven China to move towards a Green BRI?"

Whose Popular Culture? Challenges in Centering the Global Majority

"Whose popular culture?" This was the central question explored in the opening talk show of the Popular Culture and World Politics v15 Conference (PCWPv15) held on Tuesday (19/11) at Selasar Barat, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Organized by the Master Program in International Relations UGM, the event featured three prominent Indonesian curators, Alia Swastika (Jogja Biennale Foundation), Budi Irawanto (Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival [JAFF]) and Okky Madasari (ASEAN Literary Festival). A total of 48 participants attended the discussion, moderated by diah kusumaningrum (Department of International Relations, UGM).

Rumah HI as the Beginning of the IR Students’ Journey

Rumah HI was held on August 16, 2024, in Seminar Timur Fisipol from 08:30 to 15:30. This annual event organized by the Undergraduate International Relations Program UGM aims to provide new students with information and preparation on various important topics, such as curriculum, anti-plagiarism, communication ethics, anti-sexual violence, and mental health.

Prof. Poppy was Inaugurated as the First Female Professor in International Relations at UGM

Prof. Dr. Poppy Sulistyaning Winanti was officially inaugurated as Professor of International Relations on Thursday, 23 February 2023, at the Senate Hall, Universitas Gadjah Mada. At the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Poppy delivered a speech entitled "Reconsidering Embedded Liberalism for WTO Reform: Plurilateralism in International Trade Multilateralism".
