Student Admission

Admission for international students is centrally organized by the Office of International Affairs, Universitas Gadjah Mada (OIA UGM). Candidates are required to apply through the UGM Student Admission System at https://admission.ugm.ac.id/registration/

The timeline for Odd (Summer) Semester 2026/2027 Admission is as follows:

Requirements

General Requirement

Kindly visit UGM admission website at https://admission.ugm.ac.id/ to check any updates on the admission’s general requirements.

  1. Official Diploma Certificate issued by your Bachelor program (in English).
  2. Official Academic Transcripts issued by your previous academic institution (in English).
  3. Colored Scan of Passport only (a) cover and (b) personal information page are required. 
  4. Colored Passport-Sized Photograph.
  5. Recommendation Letter from academic supervisor or previous academic institution; or supervisor at workplace.
  6. English Proficiency Certificate:
    • IELTS (minimum band score 5.5); or
    • iBT TOEFL (minimum score 61); or
    • An official letter or Medium of Instruction Certificate that confirms the candidate’s previous education was taught entirely in English.
  7. Good Health Statement issued by a doctor or medical institution in any format in English.
  8. Document Authenticity Statement, format can be downloaded through the admission system.
  9. Study permit from the applicant’s workplace or supervisor (only for those with a professional background).
 
Specific Requirements (required by MIR)
  1. Personal Statement/Motivation Letter in English or Indonesian, no more than 2 pages (A4).
  2. Thesis research outline (maximum of 1.200 words or 4 pages, excluding Reference) consisting of:
    • Full name and research title, written at the top of the first page.
    • Research background
    • Literature review
    • Research questions
    • Conceptual framework
    • Methodology
    • References
  3. (optional) Indonesian Proficiency Certificate (Uji Kemahiran Berbahasa Indonesia—UKBI). This is optional, but could be an advantage.
