International Exposure Program

International Exposure Program

As mandated by Kurikulum 2021 and 2024, students taking the international program must complete some credits from one of UPIR UGM’s partner universities abroad. They do this by partaking in a one or two-semester student exchange program, study abroad program, or double degree program. More detailed information about this International Exposure Program is provided in a separate booklet.

1. Double Degree Program (DPP)

The Double Degree Program enables students to attain degrees from both Universitas Gadjah Mada and Flinders University (Australia) or Murdoch University (Australia).

2. Student Exchange Program (SEP)/Study Abroad Program (SAP)

International Student Exchange lasts for 1 semester, during which students will have excellent opportunities to broaden their knowledge.

What to Do

Before program

1. Attend the IEP workshop

At the beginning or during the third semester, students and parents are requested to attend the IEP workshop. 

2. Obtain a language proficiency certificate

To be eligible for IEP, students need to have a valid IELTS or TOEFL IBT certificate. 

3. Submit the required documents

At the end of third semester, students are requested to submit documents for internal selection, including their study plans at the preferred partner universities, motivation letter, the latest certificate of language proficiency, as well as the latest academic transcript.

4. Participate in the internal selection process

Just before the beginning of the fourth semester, students attend interview and/or workshop sessions with the IEP selection panel, which consists of IUP-IR lecturers.

5. Apply to the host university

IEP Coordinator will nominate students to partner universities and inform the student about the application process.

6. Applying to partner university and course registration

Students should consult with the IEP Coordinator on the application process and with their assigned IEP supervisor on the course selection.

7. Apply for visa

Upon getting a letter of acceptance (LoA) from the host university, students may start applying for their visa

8. Make transportation and accomodation arrangements

It is advisable that students finalize their transportation and accommodation arrangements right after their visa is issued.

9. Register at UGM and Submit Course Selection to Simaster and IEP Coordinator

Students must register and pay tuition fee to UGM before departing abroad.

1. Report to the International Cooperation Coordinator

Upon returning to Yogyakarta, students must report to the IEP Coordinator.

2. Credit Transfer

Once their official academic transcript is released by the host university, students should start their credit transfer.
