Course Description
Introduction to Peace Studies (IPS) is one of three prima interpares for the Peace and Conflict Studies concentration at the International Relations University of Gadjah Mada and is therefore mandatory for all first-year students. This collaborative, labor-intensive class introduces students to various concepts, approaches, and key debates in peace studies. It also encourages students to consider ways to emancipate from violence and toward peace through peaceful means.
Expected Learning Outcome
- Assessing direct, structural, and cultural violence in the surrounding area
- Evaluating various philosophies and methods of nonviolence
- Designing activities that support the institutionalization of peace
