Course Description

This course is a foundational course for the faculty. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of political science. The concept of power plays a central role in explaining the workings of relationships between actors at various levels, from individuals and groups to states and global systems. This course introduces students to the relational dynamics of society, which involve antagonism, inequality, and conflict. At the beginning of the semester, students will receive an explanation of the scope of political science and its significance. Students will also be introduced to the concept of power, including its various meanings, forms, actors, and distribution within the system.


Expected Learning Outcome

  1. Assessing basic concepts in political science and their application in national and social life.
  2. Developing critical thinking and a commitment to finding learning materials relevant to the concepts being taught.
  3. Defending arguments.
