Kata kunci: fair trade, norma, jaringan advokasi transnasionalTHE POLITICS OF INTERNALIZING FAIR TRADE NORMS IN INDONESIA THROUGH TRANSNATIONAL ADVOCACY NETWORKS ABSTRACT Fair trade is trade norms that emphasize the importance of justice and equality which originates from the North. Fair trade was introduced intensively to Indonesia in 2002 through World Fair Trade Organization Asia networks. Although fair trade have been introduced by transnational advocacy networks a long time ago, fair trade norms are still facing various challenges in order to achieve a condition where the norms are widely accepted. In looking at the process of internalizing norms, the political process, such as the actors involved, and the tactics and strategies being used, is important to be observed closely. The political process also occurs on norm socialization to the society, especially relates to the way framing specific issues are being used to introduce fair trade. The political process affects the adoption of fair trade by new actors which also affects how far the norms are internalized. This research focuses on one of the fair trade advocacy networks in Indonesia, which is the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) at the international and national levels on the efforts of norm internalization of fair trade in Indonesia. Utilizing norm life cycle theory, this research aims to evaluate the strategy of norm internalization of fair trade in Indonesia. Keywords: fair trade, norm, transnational advocacy networks
