Abstract/Notes In the current diplomatic circumstances, foreign policy and power expands beyond government actors. Right now, civil society, individuals, nongovernmental organization takes their part in international relations. These days, power means shaping preferences. Shaping preferences is not something that could be achieved by hard power (economic, security and political affairs) but things like culture, common values and nation branding could be the ‘power’ and shaping preferences of international audiences. South Korea foreign policy has moved from government-oriented diplomacy to more public-oriented diplomacy. Public diplomacy has involved so many nonstate actors depend on the focus of diplomacy. One of public diplomacy type done by South Korea government to improve Korea’s image and expand its market is Gastrodiplomacy. The campaign was well-known as “Kimchi Diplomacy” by mainstream media. Launching in 2008, the official name for this campaign was “Global Hansik”. Through the years, South Korea government learns how to expand its food influences. Both actor and non-state actor have contributed greatly to improving the image of Korean Food. Especially in South East Asia, Indonesia was one of the most influenced country by South Korea’s food. Indonesia was placed number 5 after China, Japan, United States and Taiwan with the most South Korea’s restaurants in 2017 ranked by Korean Food Promotion Institute. Indonesian public also more aware with the existence of South Korea’s food and its taste. This research aim to provide the blueprint of how both actors and nonstate actors involved in South Korea gastrodiplomacy and provide the details of South Korea government implementation of “Kimchi Diplomacy” in Indonesia.
