Abstract/Notes This undergraduate thesis broadly examines the impact of domestic politics on the international negotiation outcomes. The purpose of this research is to highlight the role of US domestic politics in the implementation process of the US dual-track strategy towards Iran under Barack Obama administration. By using Putnam’s two-level games concept, the analysis will focus on three main determinants: (i) the distribution of power, preferences and coalitions among Level II constituents, (ii) Level II political institutions, and (iii) the preferences and strategies of the Level I negotiator. These determinants will be the focal point on the analysis of US domestic politics impact on the negotiation process of the Iran Nuclear Deal, as a part of the dual-track strategy implementation. The research will include the policy making process of the dual-track strategy in 2009 until the ratification process of the Iran Nuclear Deal, Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in October 2015.
